In tribute to Remembrance/Armastice/Poppy Day there is tradition to honour the armed forces members who have died in the line of duty and is observed by a moment of silence at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. It is also how we honour and remember the men and women who continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace.
There are several ways to honour our veterans, and if you are one, thank-you!
Choose how you will participate.
- Get a poppy by donation or make your own to wear during this week
- Set an alarm on your phone for 11am or other time with a different ringtone and hold a space of peace within yourself for one minute by closing your eyes and focusing on your breath.
- Attend a public Remembrance Day service, salute firing or parade in your town
- Travel the Veteran’s walk and find the names of your relatives or give thanks to all
- Visit a Royal Canadian Legion and chat with a veteran
