March – Spring Fever

The first activity most aligned with emerging from the Winter hibernation period with its minimal hours of sunlight and into the fresh face of Spring is to declutter. The energy of Spring is invigorating as you can tell by all of the birds returning from migration and busily gathering twigs to build their nests. Crocuses bring us the first coloured landscape of the season as they push through the cold clammy ground.

This is a great time to gather up those dust bunnies and set them free outside before you wash the windows to let in all that glorious sunlight.

While you’re at it you may want to pressure wash the deck, driveway or siding that’s accumulated a lot of debris from all the fallen dead leaves and dirty wintery slush. Cleaning the gutters is a good idea, as is removing all the roof moss, pruning whatever trees can be done in early Spring and get the burning permit before fire season starts.

It’s a very creative time to start new projects like planning your garden and starting some seedlings indoors so you’re ready for April’s planting season. Another refreshing idea is to update your wardrobe along with your furnishings, which should be done each year and see if you’re ready for a new style.

Consider donating unwanted clothes and extra unopened necessities to the homeless charity like Wisteria and items to the second-hand stores like Deni’s or have a garage sale of your own to fund your new goodies.
